Iron Heart

London, 9 February 2020 - In the colours of Qatar Racing, IRON HEART (Muhaarar) marked his first win on his scorecard in the Maiden Stakes at Southwell (UK). Trained by Andrew Balding and ridden by former champion apprentice David Probert, the 3-year-old colt was making his fourth racecourse appearance, having placed in his previous two starts. He was slow out of the stalls and had to be pushed along in the early stages to make up the lost ground. He then sat mid-division and was ridden early on in the final turn, entering the final straight in seventh place. He showed great tenacity in the straight to depose of each of his slowing rivals, taking the lead in the final furlong. He was briefly challenged by NAVAL COMMANDER (French Navy) but was never troubled, eventually winning comfortably by ½ length. The third-placed horse, LISBET (Frankel) finished two lengths further back. IRON HEART is the first foal out of the Group 3 winning mare KIYOSHI (Dubawi) and was bred by the Kiyoshi Partnership.
