 Qatar Online Racing Championship

Doha, 21 May 2020 - Saeed al-Sulaiti cruised to another win on Tuesday, making him a firm favourite for the Qatar Online Racing Championship for bikes title. The three-time Qatar Superstock champion’s second successive victory in the final week of the competition put him in a pole position for title, with one race remaining, which will be held today.
Just like his previous win, al-Sulaiti held off his closest rival Soud al-Thani as he showed his mastery with the MotoGP 19 PS4 in the 15-lap race set at Czech Republic’s Automotodrom Brno virtual circuit. With two successive wins under his belt, al-Sulaiti now has a maximum 80 points, eight more than Soud al-Thani. Now al-Sulaiti just needs to finish third in the final race to guarantee the winner’s trophy, even if al-Thani goes on to win the race.
Al-Sulaiti’s win on Tuesday wasn’t smooth, as he had two crashes after starting from pole. He had set the early pace though, which enabled him to stay ahead of al-Thani. Khalid al-Maraghi finished third, having also finished in the same spot in the first race. Kuwait’s Mohamed al-Zaidan and Jeremy Parola finished fourth and fifth respectively.
In total 21 riders had signed up for the championship, including four from Kuwait. The race format consists of qualifying for 15 minutes, followed by the race for 30 mins. The event is organised by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation for bike racing connoisseurs after the virtual series for cars received an overwhelming response.
