Doha, 22 June 2020 - Nasser Al Khater, CEO of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, confirmed that Qatar was keen to adhere to the timetable set for completing and opening the tournament stadiums, and then the announcement was made of the availability of the third stadium tournament, which is the Education City stadium.
Al-Khater pointed out that all the preparations for the championship, including construction and infrastructure projects, are also going according to the schedule despite the current crisis of the Corona pandemic, stressing that the completion rate of the World Cup preparations exceeded 80 percent more than two and a half years ago, which confirms Qatar’s keenness to finish all preparations well in advance of the tournament.
On Monday, Qatar announced the readiness of the "Education City" stadium, to be the third FIFA World Cup 2022 stadium to be officially completed after the Khalifa International Stadium and the "South Stadium" in Al-Wakra.
Al-Khater said, “In keeping with the established timetable, we were keen to announce the readiness of the Education City Stadium at that time, despite the Corona pandemic. We used to launch our new stadiums through a major football event, whether it was a final or a large friendly match, but under the current circumstances due to the Corona epidemic, we reached a somewhat innovative way which is digitally or hypothetically announcing the opening of the stadium officially. Al-Khater said: "At the end of this year, the work will be completely completed in two other stadiums and will be officially opened."
