Officials praises Aspetar's support to athletics sports

Doha, 28 September 2020 - The Organising Committee of the Wanda Diamond League Doha 2020 praised Aspetar’s medical services provided this year's event, which held exceptionally on Friday 25th September, after it was scheduled last May due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

This year's competition came in exceptional circumstances due to the COVID19 pandemic, where a strict health protocol was applied with the aim of conducting competitions in appropriate health conditions, avoiding the impact of participants, and providing substantial medical support before and during the tournament.

For this year’s Doha Diamond League, Aspetar set up on-site facilities at the Qatar Sports Club offering services to all participating athletes 117 athletes from 65 countries participating in Doha Diamond League 2020. A team of physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and massage therapists provided immediate medical care throughout the event and at the participants’ residences.

For the tenth consecutive year, Aspetar, the orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital, provided its world-class medical support to international and local athletes who took part in the 2020 IAAF Doha Diamond League held on Friday.

Aspetar’s ongoing collaboration with the Qatar Athletics Federation in providing medical coverage to the Doha Diamond League is another example of Aspetar’s commitment to helping athletes achieve their full potential during sports events hosted in Qatar.

The Diamond league competition is the second international event supervised medically by Aspetar, the hospital is providing comprehensive world-class medical services to teams participating in the #AFC Champions League matches from the group stage to the semi-finals, which taking place in Doha from September 14 to October 3, 2020.

Events like the Diamond League provide Aspetar experts with invaluable opportunities to hone their procedures in preparation for the upcoming international sporting events are happening in Qatar, after a big success of 2019 World Championships in Athletics, took place from 28 September - 6 October 2019 at Khalifa International Stadium, Aspetar was the official medical provider.

By supporting such events, Aspetar is cementing its leading role in the treatment and prevention of injury to local, regional and international athletes across all sports. Aspetar’s experts have a wealth of experience in supporting athletes participating in major tournaments in Qatar, including the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship in 2015, the 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships, and the 2016 UCI Road World Championships, Doha 2019 IAAF world athletics championships and abroad.
