Doha, 14 December 2020 - In a tremendous accomplishment, the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) on Saturday concluded a successful completion of all their earmarked national motorsport events of 2020 with the conclusion of the Qatar National Baja championship.
In what has had been a very challenging year following the coronavirus pandemic which in a way ‘threw spanner in the works’ for motorsport around the globe, the QMMF ensured the return of competitions, after the forced break, in October.
QMMF conducted all its championships including the Qatar Superstock Championship (QSTK), the Qatar Touring Car Championship (QTCC), the Qatar National Sprint and the Qatar National Baja. In September, the QMMF also tied up with race bikes team Ten Kate Racing for new Ten Kate YZF R-6 bikes for Qatar Superstock competition.
Speaking of the accomplishment, QMMF Executive Director Amro al-Hamad, said: “Saturday marked the conclusion of the QMMF conducting all national competitions for 2020 calendar. There were so many delays because of the Covid-19 situation and we had to reschedule or even postpone events but in the end we managed to do it.
“We did really well. And it is worth mentioning that a lot of federations around the world decided to cancel events as we were battling with COVID-19 situation, but the QMMF managed to complete all national championships – the QSTK, QTCC and Qatar National Baja and the Qatar National Sprint Championship,” he added.
