Mucscat, 16 December 2020 - H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani stressed Qatar's commitment to support global sport, enumerating the advantages of Doha hosting continental and international sporting events.
"Sport is part of our genetic makeup and our national identity," H.E. Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said during the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia in the Omani capital, Muscat.
He added that "the most important components of the Doha file (to host the Asian Games) 2030: the security and safety of the guests, as Qatar is the safest country in the world according to the Global Crime Index."
H.E. Al-Thani stressed that "athletes will have safety and security and a unique experience," and continued: "We look forward to creating and creating a better world in which we all belong."
Earlier Wednesday, a meeting of the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia was held in the Omani capital, during which it was announced that Qatar had won the bid to host the "2030 Asian Games".
