Doha, 4 February 2021 - A double by André-Pierre Gignac on Thursday powered Mexican giants Tigres UANL to a 2-1 win over Korea's Ulsan Hyundai FC on the first day of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020.
Playing at the brand new Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Gignac scored twice in the first half (38 and 45 + 5) as Tigres - coached by Riccardo Ferretti - produced a polished performance in pleasant conditions.
The only goal of the match for the Korean side was scored by defender Kim Keehee in the 24th minute of the first half.
Kim Kee-hee produced a header from a difficult angle on the left to the bottom left corner. He was assisted by Yun Bit-Garam with a cross following a corner kick.

In the 47th minute, a penalty was conceded by goal-scorer Kee-hee with a hand ball in the penalty area. Following a VAR referral, Kee-hee picked up a yellow card and Gignac converted the penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner.
In the semi-final of the six-team tournament, Tigres on Sunday will play SC Palmeiras, the Brazilian giants who landed in Doha Wednesday.
