Jassim Rashid Al Kaabi claims HH Amir’s Sword

Doha, 14 February 2021 - HE Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali crowned the winners of the Qatar Endurance Race for the Sword of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held at the Marathon Village in Sealine on Saturday.
Jassim Rashid Al Kaabi astride Qualy De La Fontaine, a chestnut mare owned by Sheikha Reem bint Mohammed Al Thani and trained by Jihad Khaled El Ahmad, claimed the top honours to win HH’s sword.
Abdulla Tahous Saif Al Naimi riding DHLM, a chestnut gelding owned by Al Shaqab Endurance Team and trained by Hassan Tahous Saif Al Naimi, finished second.
Bilal Bassam Al Kharraz on Bahar Al Shaqab, owned by Al Shaqab Endurance Team and trained by Abdulrahman Saad Al Sulaitin, claimed the third podium place.
The race was held over a distance of 110 kms in four stages, the first for 40 kms, the second for 30 kms, third for 20 kms, and the fourth for 20 kms, with the participation of 57 riders.
At the end of the race, HE the Minister of Culture and Sports honoured the governmental institutions and national companies that participated in organizing and sponsoring the race.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Secretary-General of Qatar Equestrian Federation & Modern Pentathlon Ali Al Rumaihi said that the race was held in an ideal atmosphere. He praised the performance of the riders.
Al Rumaihi pointed out that the race was held amid full commitment by all of its participants to the COVID-19 precautionary measures as per the Ministry of Public Health guidelines, adding that the local season will continue until April, without any foreign participation due to the current circumstances.
For his part, President of the Qatar Endurance Committee Amer Al Hamidi expressed happiness on the success of the endurance race for the Sword of HH the Amir.
He thanked HE Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali for his presence and crowning the winners. He also hailed the efforts of the equestrian federation and the Qatar Endurance Committee in organizing the race.
