Sanna rides Nakheel to Al Beshairiya Cup win

Doha, 4 November 2021 - Al Hajaj Stud’s Nakheel (FR) claimed the Al Beshairiya Cup as jockey Alberto Sanna scored a hat-trick and a quick-fire double for trainer Gassim Ghazali on the opening day of the 7th Race Meeting of Qatar Racing &  Equestrian Club (QREC) at the Al Rayyan racecourse. 

The Italian rode the 4YO colt to a massive 7½-length victory in the 1,900m race on dirt giving trainer Jassim Ghazali a double in the QR100,000 feature race for Purebred Arabians. Khattab De Faust (FR), trained by Ahmed Kobeissi and ridden by Tomas Lukasek finished a distance second.

Bader Mohammed Al Darwish, QREC Acting CEO, crowned the winners of Al Beshairiya Cup. 

Earlier, Sanna guided Eng. Mohamed Rashid Seif Al Kuwari-trained Tamih (FR) to a hat-trick in a Purebred Arabian Conditions for 3YO+ in the Purebred Arabians Conditions 1,200m run.

Saeed bin Mubarak Saeed Aljafali Al Naimi’s homebred Rammah (FR) won the Purebred Arabian Handicap (0-85) for 3YO+ over 1200m for trainer Mohamed Khaled Elahmed and jockey Lukasek.  

Mansoor Ebrahim Al Mahmoud’s High Commander (GB) topped the Thoroughbred Handicap (0-95). The Jassim Ghazali-trained 7YO horse was helmed by JP Guillambert to win the 1,900m for 3YO+.

Making seasonal debut, Al Azraq Stable’s Immoral  won the Thoroughbred Handicap (0-80) for 3YO+ with Saleh Salem Al Marri riding the Mohammed Ghazali-schooled the 5YO horse to win the race.

Also making her seasonal debut, Jassim bin Hamad Al Atteya’s Monati (QA) picked up where she had left off in the previous season winning the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap for 3YO+/1,700m under Anas Al Seyabi for trainer Mohammed bin Hamad Al Attiya. 

Ali bin Saeed Aljafali Al Nuaimi’s Elaaf (QA) won the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate for 3-6YOs over 1,700m by a head. The Kobeissi-trained 5YO horse had Trevor Patel in the saddle.

The Al Beshairiya Cup day began with a flying start as Al Wasmiyah Farm’s Brazen Bow (FR) claimed a 5¾-length win in a Thoroughbred Handicap (0-65) for 3YO+ over 1,700m for trainer Georges Mikhalides & jockey Sanna.
