Doha, 4 January 2022 - Al Ahli beat Qatar SC 1-0 in Week 12 of the 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League at the Al Ahli Stadium on Monday.
Abdulrasheed Umaru scored the all-important goal as Al Ahli moved on to 12 points with their second victory.
Qatar SC remained on 12 points following their sixth defeat.
The match was strong and exciting and witnessed an advantage for Qatar SC in the first half, before The Brigadiers really came into the picture at the beginning of the second half.
Qatar SC dominated from the start and the first chance fell to Bashar Resan in the 18th minute. However, his missile shot was saved by the goalkeeper with great difficulty, conceding a corner.
At the other end, Al Ahli’s Jordanian player Yazan Al Naimat made a good attempt. He controlled the ball well, passed through the defence and hit hard, but his shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
The situation changed with the beginning of second half as Al Ahli were a rejuvenated lot. Ali Ferydoon ran through the defence and crossed the ball that was saved by Qatar SC goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail with difficulty before Al Ahli striker Patrick Eze could reach out to the ball.
Al Ahli then succeeded in scoring through Abdulrasheed.
Qatar SC made offensive changes to press more strongly, but the determination of Al Ahli defenders and goalkeeper denied the rivals success.
The last minutes of the match witnessed hectic action, with almost all Qatar SC players moving forward, but an equalizer did not come.
