Generation Amazing Celebrates Annual Completion of Schools' Program in Qatar

Doha, 10 June 2022 - The Generation Amazing Foundation a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 legacy program delivered by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) has marked the end of term for its schools program.
A celebration event was held to mark the occasion at Qatar Foundations Multaqa Ballroom in Education City and attended by representatives from 26 schools across the country.
The annual program, which is delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, sees children benefit from sport for development sessions that teach a variety of life skills, including leadership, communication and teamwork. The lessons also tackle issues like gender inequality, exclusion, bullying, climate change and cultural barriers. The goal of the program which is also active in Jordan and Oman is to enhance the wellbeing of children, their families and the wider community through training, collaboration, creativity and inclusion.
The Generation Amazing Programs Director Nasser Al Khori, said: "We are proud to deliver this program in Qatar, Jordan and Oman during the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. In-person training is a key element of the program which is something we have managed to implement smoothly following the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic." Al Khori continued: "We have successfully set a strong foundation for the programme to become a core part of the curriculum provided in schools every year. We are paving the way for sports development and showcasing the strong legacy Qatar 2022 will leave behind in this country and across the region." Faisal Al Bader, Head of PE Department, Educational Guidance Department, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said: "We are pleased to attend the celebration event and mark the end of term for the schools program. We would like to thank Generation Amazing and the SC for honoring the students and teachers involved." He added: "We are keen to support any initiatives that develop the curriculum and help the country achieve the goals set out in Qatar National Vision 2030." Part of the schools program involved training local PE teachers at the new Generation Amazing Community Club in Lusail. Training consisted of in-person and e-learning modules, after which the teachers delivered sessions to their students.
Daf Keefe, Deputy Headteacher at Sherborne School, Qatar, spoke about the programs impact.
He said: "The Generation Amazing schools program has helped our students make new friends, develop teamwork skills and be respectful of each other. Due to the pandemic, some students faced challenges which affected their physical, social and emotional health, so its great to have pupils enjoying sport again and seeing Generation Amazing play such a prominent role in their activities." Generation Amazing was launched by the SC in 2010 and is active in countries around the world, including Qatar, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Rwanda and Uganda.
