Qatari Federation to Contest the International Chess Federation Elections

New Delhi, 7 August 2022 - The Qatar Chess Federation is running for the International Chess Federation elections, which will be held tomorrow during the General Assembly meeting on the sidelines of the competitions of the 44th Chess Olympiad which is currently underway in India, with the participation of the Qatari national team.
By running for the elections, the Qatari Chess Federation aims to retain its seat on the board of Directors of the International Chess Federation since the International Master Zhu Chen, the star of the team and former world champion, was elected as the Financial Secretary of the International Federation in 2018, during the elections held in Batumi, the Republic of Georgia on the sidelines of the last World Olympics.
The Qatar Federation is represented at the General Assembly meetings by President of the Qatar Chess Federation Mohammed Al Madhahka and Executive Director of the Federation Hamad Al-Tamimi, in addition to Master Zhu Chen.
Meanwhile, participants of the Chess Olympiad celebrated the official ball of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, by organizing a friendly football tournament with the participation of teams representing the continents of Asia, Africa and Europe, and a team representing the International Federation, where the Qatari delegation provided the ball that was used in the competitions.
