Konya/Turkey, 13 August 2022 - Qatar raised its tally to ten medals in the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Turkey, by achieving four medals (gold and three silver) in athletics competitions.
Hamdi Ali won the gold medal for the high jump, recording 2.14m. Ahmed Majour captured the silver medal in the javelin throwing competition, recording 74.38m. Abdul Rahman Hassan won the silver medal for the 1,500m race.
The 400x4 relay team won the silver medal after a strong competition with the Morocco, Algeria and Turkey teams.
Qatar raised its tally to ten medals, including three gold and four silver. The Qatari team is expected to increase its tally in the athletics competitions on Saturday.
Qatar handball national team qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament following a 27-27 draw with Saudi Arabia. Qatar will take on Iran on Saturday in the semis.
