Doha, 19 November2022 - HE President of Qatar University (QU) Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham, affirmed that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 represents an important and watershed milestone in the contemporary history of the State of Qatar and the history of the entire region, stressing the importance of taking advantage of this global event to mobilize energies to continue creating success and excellence and moving forward towards the future.
His Excellency said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will not be just a passing event, but will be an important milestone between two phases of our contemporary history at the level of the country and the entire Arab region, whether in terms of the legacy that it will leave for our future generations, or in terms of human, economic, environmental, knowledge and infrastructure development for the whole country.
His Excellency added that the fair contemplator understands how the State of Qatar has become today, and how it will be in the future, as this championship opened doors and horizons that would not have been opened without it and prompted us to take advantage of time in a way that no one has done in this way before, and it is an opportunity for us as well.
His Excellency praised the efforts made by all state institutions to prepare for this global football event, referring in this context to the role of Qatar University, which supported the efforts of all parties before the tournament, to make it as if it were one workshop, supporting each other, and providing all experiences and capabilities in preparation for this event.
HE President of Qatar University pointed out that this global sporting event coincided with the country's celebrations of the National Day, Dec.18, stressing that this requires to be one hand and one man's heart, in light of a systematic attack that continues from time to time, malicious propaganda statements are issued targeting Qatar and questioning its capabilities to make this event a success, disguised behind multiple different slogans and based on crude double standards.
HE QU President concluded that the best answer to these campaigns is to present a unique edition of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 that the world has not witnessed before in the history of the tournament, and Qatar will not be satisfied with anything but success and distinction, nor will it be stopped by malicious statements or invitations, but rather will increase its determination to move forward towards a bright future.
His Excellency affirmed that the State of Qatar has always proven to the world that it can organize international events and managing major events, facing challenges that afflict many regions of the world and leading its ships towards success with confidence and competence.
