Doha, 6 December Converting three penalties into goals, Morocco qualified for the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time and Spain got knocked out from the World Cup in the round of 16 held at Education City Stadium in Doha on Tuesday.
Morocco created the best of only a few chances in the first half, including a close-range header by defender Nayef Aguerd that flew over while Marco Asensio hit the side-netting for Spain who dominated possession but failed to show real threat, Reuters reported. The oppourtunities in the second period were also limited.
Morocco will next play against Portugal or Switzerland in the quarter-finals.
