Basra, 8 January 2023 -  The President of Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani appreciated all efforts made by Iraq to organize the 25th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup and to receive Gulf delegations.

In a statement on Sunday, Sheikh Hamad hailed the Gulf 25 Championship in Basra and the impressive opening ceremony as well as its wonderful historical and artistic events, while praising the organizational aspects carried out by the organizing committee of the tournament and the Iraqi Football Association in preparing for this tournament in all respects.

The QFA president added that all the world's tournaments have negatives and positives, but the positive aspects shall always be enhanced and solutions for the negatives shall be developed in order to prevent their reoccurrence, wishing that attention is paid to the negatives to avoid them to support the Iraqi Football Association.

He noted that technically, the start was of a mid-level and did not reach the required level, and this is normal with the start of each tournament, hoping that in the coming rounds the technical level of all Gulf teams will be higher.

He pointed out that a general conference will be held on January 13 in order to consult with the heads of the Gulf federations about ways that lead to developing the work of the Gulf federation and Gulf football in general.

The President of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation praised the Iraqi fans, who are considered the main supporter of the tournament and who were keen to attend all matches, whether they were held in Basra Stadium or Al Mina Stadium.

"This is evidence of the Iraqi fans' love for football," he said.
