Doha, 3 March 2023 - HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani affirmed that Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel championship continues its success as one of the most important international padel competitions.
In a speech at the tournament, HE Sheikh Joaan said the competitions being held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with the participation of a group of stars and top-ranked players in the world, are an indication of the great and continuous support provided by the State of Qatar to padel, like other sports that are growing in popularity.
His Excellency renewed on this occasion his thanks and gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for the unlimited support for Qatari sports, which had a great and direct impact on Qatar's winning bids for hosting many major world events and championships annually.
HE Sheikh Joaan noted that the organisation of the Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel championship comes in line with the vision of the QOC "to become a leading nation in bringing the world together through sustainable sport development", in addition to the great popularity of the padel game that has become popular in recent years both at the local and international level.
HE the President of the QOC renewed the committee's commitment to provide full support to the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation in order to organise the tournament at the highest level within the framework of the attention given by the committee to all sports tournaments held in Qatar, and to provide the necessary capabilities to present it in a way that reflects Qatar's leading position in the world in terms of organising major sporting events.
HE Sheikh Joaan wished the participants and the guests of the tournament success and a pleasant stay in Doha, the capital of world sports.
