Denpasar/Bali, 12 March 2023 - Qatar team defeated Philippines 2-0 today in its second match at the 9th Asian Men’s Beach Handball Championships.
Its victory against the Republic of Korea yesterday with a 2-0 score gave it a confident boost.
The matches are currently being held in Bali, Indonesia from March 10 to March 19, 2023. This serves as a qualification tournament for the 2024 IHF Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships.
The Qatari national team will face, on its third match, the Saudi national team before playing its fourth and final match in the preliminary round next Wednesday against defending champion Iran.
The Qatari team belongs in Group A, facing Iran, Philippines, Republic of Korea and Saudi Arabia while Group (B) includes Indonesia, Vietnam, Oman, Hong Kong, Kuwait and China.
Qatar's men beach handball team was runner-up in the eighth edition of the Asian Championship that was held in Tehran, last year, after it had won the title five times in a row in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
