Kuwait, 15 March 2023 - HE Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Badah Al Mutairi said that the State of Qatar has made an impressive success in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Addressing the 98th regular session of the Standing Committee for Arab Media, which was held in Kuwait, he congratulated Qatar for its success in hosting the 2022 World Cup, calling it the largest sports and media event.
Al Mutairi attributed the great success achieved by the State of Qatar to the professional organization and the advanced outstanding infrastructure, pointing out that the State of Qatar was able to take advantage of this global occasion to highlight authentic Arab values and express them in the best way.
In his speech, Al Mutairi added that the Palestinian issue topped the agenda of the current session, reiterating his country's official and popular position in support of the Palestinian people until they obtain their full legitimate rights in an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, pursuant to international references, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.
He explained that the meeting dealt with many important media issues, including the Palestinian issue, addressing the phenomenon of terrorism, providing community protection against rumors and misleading information, developing a unified strategy for cooperation with all international media companies, and adopting the Arab media map for sustainable development 2030.
He stressed that these issues require close Arab cooperation between states and media organizations, in order to achieve positive interaction towards these issues in light of the widespread and rapid development of electronic media technologies.
