Qatar Partakes in 46th Session of Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports in Jeddah

Jeddah, 20 March 2023- The State of Qatar participated in the 46th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

H.E. Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali headed the State of Qatar's delegation to the meeting.

The agenda of the meeting included a draft Arab strategy for youth, peace, and security, which was presented by the Social Affairs Sector of the Arab League to be launched in 2023 as the first-of-its-kind strategy in the Arab world and the world. The strategy aims to enhance youth participation in issues of peace and security and the development of national strategies on peace and security through the implementation plan and a four-year timetable.

Also, the meeting included many sports activities, such as a course on sports legislation and systems, a course on developing the capabilities of Arab sports clubs in the State of Palestine, the Arab festival for women's sports in Algeria, a sports course on national construction for Arab youth in Sudan, and the Arab League cup for embassies.

The 46th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports comes after the meeting of the 69th session of the Executive Office of the Council and the 43rd session of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund for Youth and Sports Activities, which approved the report of the finance committee and the report of the technical secretariat on the 2022 accounts of the Council of the Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports.

The Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports operates within the framework of the Arab League and aims to achieve cooperation, coordination, and integration and develop plans, programs, studies, and research in the youth and sports fields.

The Council seeks coordination to unify the positions of Arab countries in regional and international youth and sports meetings and conferences, as well as supervising Arab sports tournaments in cooperation with the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees.
