Bethlehem, 16 May 2023 -President of Qatar Football Association (QFA) HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani participated in the inauguration of the "Pele Stadium" in Bethlehem Governorate in Palestine at the invitation of the Palestinian Minister of Sports and President of Palestinian Football Association Lieutenant General Jibril Rajoub.
The opening ceremony of Pele Stadium, which coincides with the anniversary of Nakba Day, was attended by the President of the Jordan Football Association and President of the West Asian Federation, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein and the Vice President of the Arab Football Association and member of the FIFA Council Hani Abu Raida.
Prime Minister of Palestine Mohammad Shtayyeh met with the President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest and ways to enhance them between the two sides in various football fields in light of the distinguished relations between the Qatari and Palestinian sides.
On behalf of the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, the Prime Minister of Palestine bestowed the Grand Star of the Order of Jerusalem on HE QFA President in appreciation of His Excellency's sporting career full of giving and various achievements and his efforts to strengthen Qatari-Palestinian fraternal relations.
