Doha, 17 May 2023 - Portuguese Carlos Queiroz, coach of the Qatar national football team, said that 26 footballers that were shortlisted would compete in the Concacaf Gold Cup 2023 which is hosted by the United State of America and Canada from Jun. 24 to Jul. 16, 2023.
This came during a press conference held in Doha to review the detailed and future preparation plan for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup final, the world cup 2026, and the Gold Cup 2023.
During the press conference, Queiroz said he is proud to lead the Qatari squad thanking the Qatar Football Association for the great confidence in him to achieve the ambitions and aspiration during the upcoming period, adding that it is his great honor to train the Qatari team.
He hoped to continue this journey to achieve a new objective of leading the Qatari team to the world cup final in 2026 after he had led the teams of his country, Colombia, Egypt and Iran.
He said Qatar presented a precious gift to the world of football when it organized a best edition ever of the tournament last year, offering the Qatari team an opportunity to compete in the world cup final for the first time in history.
It is time for Qatar to be among the top football teams and progress to achieve the distinguished results in tournaments through competitions, he said.
