Gulf Football Federation, CAFA Sign Cooperation Agreement

Dushanbe, 7 October 2023 - The Gulf Football Federation signed a cooperation agreement with the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to support football development plans, in the presence of HE President of the Gulf Football Federation Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani and HE CAFA President Rustam Emomali.

The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two organizations for the benefit of football in the Gulf region and the Central Asian region through joint work and strategic plans that aim to exchange experiences and expertise between the two sides.

HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani stated that the agreement is the first step to a true partnership between the two federations within the framework of developing football through holding competitions and exchanging various expertise and experiences, adding that it will reflect positively on the game and enhance its administrative and technical efficiency.

He added that the CAFA is one of the effective regional federations, and that cooperation will raise the level of football and create a qualitative shift in various administrative and technical fields.

The President of the Gulf Football Federation stressed the two federations' keenness to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in organizing the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

For his part, HE CAFA President welcomed the agreement with the Gulf Cup Federation, stressing that it will open new potentials for both sides, which will serve football on both sides and benefit the associations' members by creating real opportunities for development.

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Secretary General of the Gulf Football Federation Jassim Sultan Al Rumaihi and CAFA Secretary General Ulugbek Karimov.
