Doha, 25 October 2023 - Qatar stormed into the semi-finals of the Asian Handball Qualifier for 2024 Paris Olympic Games with a comfortable 33-24 win over Saudi Arabia at Al Duhail Indoor Hall yesterday.
The victory took Qatar’s points tally to 10 at the top of Group A as they maintained their perfect record in the tournament. Qatar will meet Bahrain, who defeated Iran 28-24 yesterday to book the second spot in Group B, in the semi-final tomorrow. In other Group A matches, United Arab Emirates beat India 40-22 and South Korea won 28-23 against China.
In Group B, Kuwait overcame Kazakhstan 39-31. Group B leaders Japan will take on South Korea in the second semi-final tomorrow. The winner of the tournament will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics, while the second placed team will play at the 2024 IHF Men’s Olympic Qualification Tournaments.
