Lisbon, 29 October 2023 - Qatari driver and champion Nasser Al Attiyah ranked 3rd in the overall standings in the 37th edition of Baja Portalegre 500.
The Qatari driver started the rally by leading the demonstration stage, as well as the stages of the first day, however he faced trouble during the Rally's second day.
Al Attiyah finished in 4th place, to which he protested due to a time penalty, which was then cancelled, bringing Al Attiyah up to the third place with a total time of 4:58.42.8 hours, a difference of 4:26.5 minutes from the leading Portuguese driver Joao Ferreira, accompanied by his co-driver and compatriot Filipe Palmeiro, who recorded a time of 4:54:16.3 hours, while the Saudi driver Yazeed Al Rajhi, accompanied by his German co-driver Timo Gottschalk, placed second, with a time difference of 2:21.6 minutes behind the Portuguese Ferreira, who won the title.
This is the first competition for Al Attiyah and his co-driver Matthieu Baumel behind the steering wheel of their new car, the BRX Prodrive Hunter, following their joining team Prodrive team under the name Nasser Racing.
Al Attiyah took part in the Baja Portalegre 500, driving his new car as part of his preparations for the Dakar Rally, to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in January, being the first round of the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship.
