Doha, 28 November 2023 - Chairman of the Qatar Football Association's Competitions Committee Hamad Al Mannai confirmed that the system of the Amir Cup for the current season 2023/2024 will see some changes compared to previous editions to allow as many teams as possible to participate and compete for the title.
Al Mannai said in statements for the QFA official site that the committee is looking to enhance the competition and excitement level for the cup. He noted that the competition will take place following the conclusion of the league, noting that it relies on the rankings on each team in the standings of the league at the end of the season.
Furthermore, he explained that there is a complete coordination between the Competitions Committee and the national teams management, because the football season is governed by the schedule and commitments of the national teams, which are the basis for setting the local calendar.
