Doha, 4 January 2024 - Director of Marketing and Communications at Qatar Football Association (QFA) Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari said that defending champions Qatar would largely hinge on the wide sports fandom for their AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 campaign.
Speaking to the media, Al Kuwari hailed the fans as the No-12 player who would help the Maroons retain the title.
Qatar will be hosting Asia's most prestigious men's football tournament from Jan. 12 to Feb. 10. They were drawn in Group A along with Lebanon, China and Tajikistan.
Al Kuwari hailed the Qatar's pre-AFC Asian Cup preparation camp during which they defeated Cambodia 3-0 and are awaiting another friendly against Jordan.
