Doha Tour 2024 set to begin at Al Shaqab

Doha, 10 January 2024 - The Longines Outdoor Arena at Al Shaqab is primed for the first leg of the Doha Tour 2024 set to kick off Thursday, with over 113 showjumpers from 20 countries, vying for awards totaling over two million Euros, the Supreme Organizing Committee for the tournament announced Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference, HE Secretary general of Qatar Equestrian Federation and Modern Pentathlon (QEF&MP) Sheikh Ahmed bin Nooh Al-Thani, who chairs the supreme organizing committee, hailed the event as a key catalyst for achieving the QEF&MP's strategic goals, primarily elevating Qatari riders' skills and experiences through interacting with top-ranked showjumpers.

The event, which coincides several world-class tournaments staged in Doha, will also further the QEF&MP's efforts in collaboration with relevant authorities to bolster sports tourism in the country and testify that Doha is a global sports capital, His Excellency said.

The tournament will go in three legs as follows: the first leg from Jan. 11-13, the second from Jan. 18-20, and the third from Jan. 25-27.

Vice Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee Ahmed Jaber Al Mulla gave an informative presentation on the technical aspects of the tournament and highlighted that the event would bring together showjumpers from within and outside Qatar, some of whom top-ranked.

Director of the Commercial Department at Al Shaqab, Ahmed Yousuf Al Hammadi hailed the Al Shaqab - QEF&MP partnership as a source to boost technical and organizational expertise and demonstrate the in Al Shaqab's Longines Outdoor Arena which has previously hosted a number of international events.

This year's edition which sees a strategic partnership between the Qatar Olympic Committee and Al Shaqab.

Director of Strategy and Marketing Department at Doha Bank, Yousef Abdullah Al Meer said the Doha Bank had opted to sponsor the event as part of its social responsibility and to highlight horse-riding as a key aspect of the State of Qatar's heritage and national identity.

Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs at Al Abdulghani Motors, Dr. Iman Al Ansari said that the companys sponsorship of the tournament comes as an extension of the existing partnership with the QEF&MP, and in fulfillment of the companys continuous approach to supporting local and international sports initiatives.

Chief Executive Officer of White Event Hamad Khalifa al-Sowaidi ascribed that the companys co-sponsoring of the tournament to the local and global prestige of horse-riding and its connection to Qatari heritage, stressing that the tournaments competitions will receive special coverage on their social platforms.

General Manager of GulfCraft, Vicken Deyirmenjian hailed the event as an exceptional opportunity to present creative designs that fit the importance of the event.

The Supreme Organizing Committee established a fan zone with many entertainment facilities and activities that suit all age categories.
