Doha, 11 January 2024 - Qatar rounds off Thursday at the Aspire Sports Excellence Academy their preparations for AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 opener against Lebanon.
The hosts and defending champions' encounter with Lebanon following the opening ceremony at Lusail Stadium on Friday will be their first clash in Group A that also includes China and Tajikistan.
Marquez Lopez's men played two warm up matches ahead of the tournament, beating Cambodia 3-0 and slipping to a 2-1 defeat by Jordan.
During their yesterday's training session which was held amid an atmosphere of optimism and determination at training venue No. 3 at Aspire, the Spanish coach focused on the defense organization.
Qatar midfielder Mustafa Tariq Mishal stressed the keenness of all players to perform satisfactorily in the continental championship, especially in the opening match, voicing hopes to give performances that please the Qatari fans.
