The webinar was the first in a series of monthly discussions involving the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy programmes, plus representatives from their strategic partners.

Two FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 legacy programmes – Generation Amazing and Josoor Institute – along with the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) recently teamed up to deliver a webinar about the role of sport and learning in supporting youth during the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was the first in a series of monthly discussions involving the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy programmes, plus representatives from their strategic partners. Members of the public are invited to join the sessions, which are broadcast on Microsoft Teams.
The first webinar featured Generation Amazing Programmes Director, Nasser al-Khori, Josoor Institute’s Business Development Director, Michele Petochi, UCFB lecturer, Dr Leo Watkins, Education Above All’s Michael Cacich, and Amani al-Qadi, the founder of Aurora for Training and Development. The webinar was moderated by Dr Simon Chadwick, Director, Centre for Eurasian Sport Industry, at the EM Lyon Business School.
Al-Khori said: “We are delighted that our partners have been able to join us in discussing the importance of working to find ways in which we can continue to support communities in a time of hardship through sport for development and educational programming. “The session has resulted in much valuable dialogue on how we can centre our efforts together in ensuring that we can be impactful for multiple demographics going forward.”
“Partnering with Generation Amazing and the UCFB is a strategic opportunity for Josoor in its leadership in education and training as a Qatar 2022 legacy programme,” said Petochi.
“When it comes to engines of learning and community building in support of youth, amidst the challenging circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, Josoor is actively reaching out to its audience by making its research content available online and hosting regular online sessions which are open to the public. We are also developing a future e-diploma programme in sports and events management.”
Watkins said: “This was a valuable opportunity to discuss some of the many issues affecting youth both during and likely beyond the current pandemic. The shared dialogue with experts in the field helped to provide a sense of clarity of both the challenges and opportunities we are faced with. As an educational provider we feel a responsibility to support youth at this unprecedented time but also to better understand their needs. This webinar discussion and our partnership with Generation Amazing and Josoor Institute provide a great springboard for doing this.”
The next webinar in the series will focus on the Generation Amazing core value of inclusion and is planned to take place on 23 July. The speakers will be announced in due course.
