Doha: 7 Star will fly to Brazil to represent Qatar at the world finals this July for the Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five championship.
The lucky 7 Star will compete against other finalists from 40 countries fand are likely to get an opportunity to play against the phenomenal PSG striker, Neymar Jr and his squad.
The Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five tournament continues to find success as a global signature series, hosted by the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr.
Amateur footballers and fans from all around Qatar, gathered at Al Bidda Park to settle the score on Friday. The five-a-side football tournament has set a challenge to reimagine skill and teamwork on the pitch.
The highly-anticipated contest featured almost 200 teams during four qualifier rounds, leading up to the national finals. The top 16 teams then went head-to-head following a knockout format. After putting up an impressive run through the tournament brackets, Team 7 Star outplayed their opponents to claim the title and their golden ticket to Brazil.
The Neymar Jr’s Five was brought together in partnership with Vodafone Qatar, Regency Group Holding, I Love Qatar, Aspire Zone, QSports and Xtork Platform.
The national finals also featured a gathering of some of Qatar’s most prominent athletes. Red Bull athlete and World Champion High Jumper Mutaz Barshim, Red Bull athlete and squash player Abdulla Al Tamimi, Red Bull athlete and esports player Ahmad Al Meghessib, as well as Qatar’s national football star AlMoez Ali, all showed their support to the contestants at the event.
