Qatar to train in Croatia ahead of Gold Cup

Doha, 13 June 2021 - Coach Felix Sanchez has announced a 30-member Qatar squad ahead of a training camp which will be held in Croatia as the national team gears up for the participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Al Annabi contingent will today leave for Croatia where they will train until July 04 ahead of their departure to the United States. 

At the Gold Cup, debutants and Asian Cup champions Qatar will play their Group matches against Honduras, Grenada and Panama in Group D.

Qatar, the only invitee in the 13-nation tournament, will play their first match at the BBVA Stadium in Houston, at 2:00am Qatar time on July 14, Qatar, drawn in Group D, will then take on Grenada on July 17, before facing Honduras three days later.

The top two teams from the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals on July 25.

Qatar are the seventh guest nation to compete in a Gold Cup and the first since 2005, joining the ranks of Brazil (1996, 1998, 2003), Colombia (2000, 2003, 2005), Peru (2000), Ecuador (2002), South Africa (2005) and South Korea (2000, 2002).
