Sanya, China – Qatar’s beach volleyball team, represented by the outstanding duo of Sherif Younes and Ahmed Tijan, secured a place in the final of the Asian Beach Games – Sanya 2026 after a commanding straight-sets victory over Thailand in the semifinals Tuesday.
The Qatari pair delivered a dominant performance to defeat their Thai counterparts (2-0), with set scores of 21-12 and 21-14, showcasing remarkable technical excellence, strong coordination, and impressive determination throughout the match.
Qatar will now face Iran in Wednesday’s highly anticipated final, after the Iranian team also booked their place in the title match by overcoming Oman in the other semifinal.
The final is expected to be a thrilling contest between two of Asia’s strongest teams in this category. The Qatari team had advanced to the knockout stages after topping Group B with a perfect record, securing three consecutive victories over the Maldives, Uzbekistan, and Iran.
They then progressed past Qatar’s second team in an all-Qatar Round of 16 clash before continuing their impressive run with a quarterfinal victory over China, ultimately earning their well-deserved place in the championship match.
